A fascinating and collectible Mint Error example of the 1999 Lincoln Memorial Cent — certified and graded Mint State 64 Red by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), cert E3154.64/38789923, and designated as a Broadstruck error. A broadstruck coin occurs when the planchet is struck outside the retaining collar, allowing the metal to spread freely beyond the normal coin diameter. The result is a coin that is visibly wider and thinner than a standard issue, with design elements flowing toward the rim — a dramatic and immediately recognizable mint error that is avidly collected by error coin enthusiasts.
The obverse features the right-facing portrait of Abraham Lincoln with LIBERTY to the left, IN GOD WE TRUST above, and the date 1999. The reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial with ONE CENT / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Struck in copper-plated zinc at the Philadelphia Mint.
