Free In-Store Coin Appraisals

Calgary Coin Gallery provides free, no-obligation in-store appraisals while you wait. Our experienced team of up to three staff members can assess most collections on the spot, making the process quick and straightforward. There's no need to pre-sort your coins — in fact, we ask that you don't. We remove coins from bags and other storage containers ourselves to ensure nothing is missed during evaluation.

Coins with similar values — such as pre-1966 Canadian silver coins — are weighed together to determine their silver melt value. From there, we identify any coins with numismatic value above their metal content, including key dates and desirable varieties, which are assessed individually. Note that most foreign coins carry minimal individual value and are typically purchased by weight.

Selling a Large Coin Collection

Have an especially large or complex collection? We recommend calling ahead to discuss whether an appointment would be beneficial. Our team is experienced with estate collections of all sizes and can advise on the best approach before your visit.

Written Appraisals for Estate or Insurance Purposes

If you require a formal written appraisal for estate settlement or insurance documentation, we offer this service at $125 per hour. Please contact us to discuss your needs and arrange an appointment.

Selling Coins by Mail

Not local to Calgary? No problem. You can ship your coins to us for assessment. We recommend calling or emailing us a list of items beforehand so we can confirm it's worthwhile for you to send them. Once received, we'll evaluate your collection and contact you with an offer. If you accept, payment can be made by cheque or Interac e-Transfer.

In-Home Visits for Large Collections
