Preparing and Selling Coins

Are you interested in selling your collection? Whether it was your personal collection, or that of a loved one, we do understand that it may not be easy for you to sell and we will always treat you and the collection with the respect it deserves. 

At Calgary Coin Gallery we offer free in house appraisals for those wanting to sell. It is a very simple process that we do on site while you wait. We often have 3 staff in the store and can handle most any collection that comes in. We ask that you do not try and sort coins as we will have to remove all the coins for any bags or other storage methods to sort them anyway. Many coins will have similar values (for example pre 1966 silver coins) and we will put them all together to weigh them to determine their value. In this process we will look and pull out any coins with values above their metal content. For non silver coins we will look for those more desirable and key date coins to be assessed individually. Most foreign coins have very little value individually and are usually bought by the pound.

If you are looking to have a written appraisal for estate or insurance purposes this is something we can provide. For this service we do charge $125 an hour. 

Don't live near by? Not a problem. You can always send us your items you would like to sell. Please call ahead or email us a list so we can make sure it is worth your time to send the items you wish to sell. Once they arrive we will assess them and get in touch with you to discuss. If you agree then we can either mail you a cheque or send an e-transfer. 

Don't live near by but have a large collection? Please get in touch and if you aren't too far away we may be able to arrange to come see you to purchase your collection.
