George VI and Voyageur designs
The obverse features the bareheaded portrait of George VI facing left, surrounded by royal lettering. The reverse depicts two paddlers in a canoe with bundled cargo, an island and trees behind them, and vertical rays above. CANADA appears at the top, with the date and DOLLAR below. A small maple leaf beside the date identifies the variety recorded on the ICCS label.
Condition and appearance
The photographs show grey-toned surfaces with lighter highlights on raised details and darker patches around portions of the designs. Circulation wear is visible on the portrait and canoe scene, with scattered marks and fine lines in the fields. ICCS assigns EF40; no additional numerical grade, prooflike finish or unlisted variety is claimed.
Please examine the obverse, reverse and label photographs closely for this example's individual appearance. Reflections, lines and marks on the plastic packaging can also affect the photographs. Standard specifications above describe the issue and are not independent measurements of the encapsulated coin.
Collecting appeal
A certified Maple Leaf variety for a George VI silver-dollar collection, a Voyageur dollar set or a broader selection of Canadian silver coinage.
Housed in the pictured ICCS sealed holder. Tampering with the holder invalidates the certification opinion. Have the holder replaced if the inner package or seal is not intact.
