Dated Ottawa, 2nd January, 1937, the obverse features a portrait of King George VI in military uniform at centre within an oval vignette, flanked by red serial numbers on a rich olive-green and black ground. The reverse displays one of the most celebrated designs in Canadian numismatic history — an allegorical scene featuring a seated female figure representing Canada, accompanied by a cherub, set within an elaborate lathe-work border, rendered in rich olive-green tones.
