A collectible mint state example of the 1929 Canada Five Cents — certified and graded Mint State 63 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), cert 1757420-032, housed in a desirable early NGC/ANA generation holder bearing the legend “NGC is the ANA’s Official Grading Service.” No variety is noted on the label. The 1929 five cent is a popular date in the George V nickel series, widely collected in mint state by type and date collectors of Canadian coinage.
The obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George V by Sir E.B. MacKennal, surrounded by the legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP:. The reverse displays the denomination FIVE 5 CENTS and CANADA / 1929 flanked by maple leaves. Struck in nickel at the Royal Canadian Mint, Ottawa.
