A superb mint state example of the 1923 Canada Five Cents — certified and graded Mint State 64 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), cert 6528941-003, in a mid-generation NGC holder. The 1923 is the key date of the entire George V Canadian nickel series, struck with one of the lowest mintages of the series and consistently the most difficult date to locate in mint state. Collectors assembling a complete George V five cent set invariably find the 1923 to be the final and most challenging piece. At MS 64, this coin displays exceptional original lustre and sharp strike with only minor imperfections — a coin that will satisfy the most discerning collector.

The obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George V wearing a crown, surrounded by the legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP:. The reverse displays the denomination FIVE 5 CENTS flanked by maple leaves with CANADA above and the date 1923 below. Struck in nickel at the Royal Canadian Mint, Ottawa.
