A rare and historically significant example of Canada's first Dominion fractional currency, this 1870 Dominion of Canada Twenty-Five Cent note has been certified and graded Fine 12 by Banknote Certification Service (BCS). Catalogue reference DC-1b-i, bearing the signatures of Dickinson (for Minister of Finance) and Harington (for Receiver General) — Series B, Small B variety.

The obverse features the iconic Britannia vignette with ornate engraving, printed by the British American Bank Note Company, Montreal & Ottawa. The reverse displays the classic green guilloché design redeemable at principal offices in Montreal, Toronto, and St. John. Authorized under 31 Vict. Cap. 46.

Encapsulated in a BCS tamper-evident holder (cert FS405). BCS notes Holes as a comment. A genuinely scarce first-issue shinplaster — the 1870 DC-1 series is among the most sought-after of all Canadian fractional notes.
