Narrow 0 date variety

The Narrow 0 designation refers to the shape of the final digit in the 1870 date. This variety attribution is documented directly on the ICCS label, offering a clearly identified example for collectors building Canadian ten-cent date-and-variety sets.

Victorian design and early Canadian history

The obverse bears the left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria with the surrounding royal inscription. The reverse presents the denomination and date within a crowned wreath. Dated just three years after Confederation, this small sterling-silver coin represents the early decades of Canada's decimal currency. It was struck in London, before the opening of the Ottawa mint in 1908.

Condition and appearance

Graded VF20, this circulated example shows wear on the portrait and raised reverse details. The photographs show dark grey toning with lighter highlights on portions of the design. Please examine both sides closely for the individual marks, toning and remaining detail. No additional variety or surface designation is inferred beyond the information recorded on the certification label.

For the Canadian silver collector

The combination of an early Victorian date and a certified Narrow 0 attribution makes this an interesting addition to a Canadian dime collection or a study of nineteenth-century date varieties. The separate label photograph records the grade, attribution and certification number for the exact example offered.

All three supplied photographs show this coin and its certification holder. Plastic marks, reflections and holder discolouration should be considered separately from the coin itself. Encapsulated in the pictured ICCS sealed holder. Tampering with the holder invalidates the certification opinion; have the holder replaced if the inner package or seal is not intact. The weight and diameter listed above are standard coin specifications, not shipping measurements.

The ICCS-certified coin shown is the exact coin you will receive. Guaranteed authentic.
