This 1927 example belongs to that early nickel series and offers a distinctive contrast to both the Victorian silver issues and the later beaver reverse introduced in 1937.

Condition and appearance

The AU55 grade places this coin in the About Uncirculated range, with light wear rather than a Mint State designation. The photographs show clear portrait and reverse details, darker fields and bright highlights on raised portions of the design. Small marks are visible, and reflections from the holder influence the apparent colour and brightness.
